About the Phonies:
Charles Moore began performing percussion for his father’s various musical acts at the age of five. An alum of both Second City Cleveland and Los Angeles, he has performed and written with an assortment of sketch & improv troupes over the years – his most recent endeavor the long-form improvisational ensemble Vanity Improv Project (VIP). Charles was a producer on the 2005 feature Will Work for Food (The LA DV Magazine’s Best Feature winner). Charles’s first screenplay The Pitchman was selected for Francis Ford Coppola’s American Zoetrope Writers Workshop in Belize in 2005, and his most recent dramatic feature script Madtown is available upon request . Charles continues his musical interests as the long-time drummer for the stalwart Cleveland based punk band Bluto’s Revenge (currently working on their 5th studio album). The band has performed with such legends as Bad Religion, Henry Rollins, NoMeansNo, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Afghan Whigs, and yes…Spinal Tap (the loudest band of all time). James Renner has written two true crime books featuring famous unsolved crimes from Cleveland; Amy: My Search for Her Killer and The Serial Killer’s Apprentice. In 2005, he adapted and directed a Stephen King short story which premiered at the Montreal World Film Festival. He has written for The Free Times and currently edits the alternative newspaper The Independent. His articles have appeared in The Best American Crime Reporting and Best Creative Nonfiction anthologies. Oh, and he once made out with a dude in front of the Today Show. Rob Lucas founded the Akron Film Festival in 2002 as a graduate student at The University of Akron. As an instructor at the University Rob premiered his first feature-length movie, American Stories, at the 2006 film festival. He currently works as a book editor for Gray & Company, Publishers.
